Tailor-made Biscuits For Netflix’s “Next In Fashion”
23/01/2020
In January, the team at AD Events got in touch to ask if I could make some boxes of biscuits for a press event to launch a new Netflix series, “Next In Fashion”, presented by Alexa Chung and Tan France. It was a last minute enquiry, so speed was of the essence. The brief was couture themed biscuits using the NIF colour palette, to be presented in a gift box which they could mail out to press and influencers. I drew up a design for six biscuits to fit into a single layer box; dress, mannequin, tape measure, scissors, cotton reel plus the “Next in Fashion” logo.
As with most one-off designs, each biscuit is hand cut from a template, (if there’s enough notice and it’s within the clients budget, I’ll get a 3d printed cookie cutter made) but in this case there was no time, so hand cutting it was. A small or complicated shape is fiddly and time-consuming to cut, so I try to simplify as much as possible. You also need to take account that the dough will spread a little when baking, so the pattern needs to be cut slightly smaller than needed. This doesn’t matter too much if the biscuits aren’t going to be boxed but when they need to fit neatly together into a gift box, a few mm’s out can become a big headache. If this does happen, my handy tip (to avoid having to go right back to stage 1 and remaking the biscuits from scratch) is to very carefully microblade shave any ones which have spread a little.
Voila, there you have it, literally “made to measure”, couture biscuits for Netflix’s “Next in Fashion”.
“Wow, these look amazing, thank you”

Wedding Favours for an International Couple
15/09/2019
I received an enquiry from a bride-to-be, asking if I could design 120 travel themed cookies for their wedding. She was American, her fiance British, and they lived in Australia. She’d suggested a heart shaped globe, or something which incorporated the flags of all the three countries but was open to any other ideas I might have. I sketched out a few designs with maps and flags but they all started to look a little over complicated. Then inspiration struck, looking through my wedding cookie cutters, was a wedding cake shaped cutter, which could double up as three suitcases stacked on top of each other. The final design incorporated all the different elements, a travel themed biscuit of three stacked vintage style suitcases, in red, white and blue with the bride and grooms initials, wedding date and UK, USA, AUS luggage label.
“Thanks so much, they are beautiful!”
